Michelle Obama launched a powerful attack on Donald Trump in her first appearance on Kamala Harris’s campaign in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The former First Lady joined the campaign with a passionate speech filled with criticism of the former president and his supporters.
Obama expressed her frustration at the possibility that the United States “wastes this chance to finally turn the page on ugliness” if it chooses to re-elect Trump.
In her speech, which lasted over forty minutes, Obama slammed what she called a “double standard” that, in her view, is applied to Harris.
Michelle Obama Reappears and Supports Kamala Harris

“I hope you’ll forgive me if I’m a little frustrated that some of us have chosen to overlook Donald Trump’s incompetence while asking Kamala to dazzle us at every step,” Obama told the crowd.
Michelle Obama, who hadn’t actively campaigned since the Democratic National Convention in August, made a special call to women to defend their rights.

The former First Lady’s message was strong: she urged women voters to support Harris as the only option to ensure the protection of their reproductive rights.
“We need you to vote for the only candidate in this race who will protect our lives,” Obama declared, referring to Kamala Harris.
The rally in Kalamazoo was a key event for Harris, who aims to solidify support in a critical state like Michigan, according to EFE.
Michelle Obama’s presence helped reinforce support for the vice president at a time when Democrats are working to maintain their female base.
Obama emphasized that Harris is the only candidate committed to “restoring our reproductive freedoms and defending our health.”
“The question isn’t whether Kamala is ready… because in every way, she’s shown she’s ready. The real question is, as a country, are we ready for this moment?” questioned the former First Lady.
Defending Women’s Rights

The former First Lady defended women’s right to make decisions about their own bodies, criticizing restrictive policies pushed by Republicans.
Obama’s feminist message received an ovation, underscoring Harris’s commitment to women’s rights.
She also directed a message to men, stating her opinion that voting for Trump or a third-party candidate “would bring collateral damage” to their wives, sisters, and daughters.
Obama dedicated a significant part of her speech to listing the Trump Administration’s failures, describing its response to the COVID-19 pandemic as poor. She criticized its discrediting of scientists, spread of misinformation, and reminded the audience of the assault on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
